Conditional formatting based on the value of different rows/columns

Hi all, I have the same question as AndeaF (https://community.onestreamsoftware.com/t5/Reporting/Conditional-formatting-based-on-the-value-of-other-rows-and/td-p/20227) 
Is the below solution post by OneStream still the only workaround for the question? I am trying to compare the variance of prior year and current year data and want to return a specific number format based on the two numbers.

I believe this is still the preferred work around.  There are two ideas on IdeaStream though that pertain exactly to this so you should definitely up-vote these two ideas so they may get a higher priority:
