Is there an option to create a QV with columnar view of a dimension hierarchy
Not using the standard QV settings i don't believe. You could possibly try do something with Dynamic Calcs to reproduce these as the first X columns of your query.
Alternatively if your users are happy to interact with the data through Dashboards, the Cube View MD type data adapter has some functionality that may provide what you're looking for.
