Onestream Excel Add-In - Server Address gets deleted when clicking on "Connect"

Hello,

we encounter the following behaviour with the OneStream Desktop Client and the Excel Add-In:

The Server Adress URL is stored in c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\OneStream\Common\Settings\webserverurl.txt

As soon as I click connect, the URL stored in the webserverurl.txt file gets deleted with the next start of the desktop application or the Excel Add-In, the Server Address field is empty and I have to get the Connection URL by clicking the three dots next to the Server Adress field (which is quite annoying).

Does anyone of you encounter the same issue?

Hi Nick,

I was in contact with some OneStream guys from the support line and we did a lot of testing. Finally it´s a bug in V8.

But there is a workaround: just create a username.txt file in c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\OneStream\Common\Settings\

As soon as the username.txt file is present, the webserverurl.txt file does not get blanked out any more.

Regard
Martin

Hey Martin,

did you open a support case? It could be a specific version, as far as I know the last-used url should be remembered by the desktop client...

Hello Jack,

yes support case is running and under investigation. I just wanted to figure out, if other customers encounter the same issue.

Hi Martin,

Wondered if you had managed to resolve this as we are experiencing similar issues with the WebServerUrl.txt file clearing out the default server address.

Thanks,

Nick

What did you do to roll this out to the users?  I just figured this out myself, but not looking forward to rolling this out to every user manually.

johnal67 Our IT department pushed out updated text files to each users %appdata%\OneStream\Common\Settings folder using Microsoft SCCM.  We used the opportunity to ensure all users had the same addresses and app names for our Production and Development servers so overwrote all of the text documents in that location.

Martin_Gebhartl just wanted to confirm your solution did work for us as well so thanks again!

Awesome, I'm going to look at that.  Am I correct that I need in my case "john alsobrook" needs to be in the username.txt file that has to match my OneStream Username, and not my userid such as "jalso0"?
