Refreshing an emailed spreadsheet

We just upgraded from 8.4 to 9.0, and almost certain before we could email a spreadsheet with XF functions and immediately refresh the spreadsheet with button in the ribbon when already logged in.  Now the Refresh Sheet button is grayed out, and now you have to "save as" the spreadsheet then refresh because the spreadsheet is in "read only" mode.  I'm trying to decide if it changed with the upgrade, or if one of the Preferences settings affect this, or if we are just not remembering correctly.  Any ideas or are we just wrong?

You are correct, prior to version 9 you could refresh a file with XFGetCell functions while the file was in read-only mode, whether that file was in read-only mode after being opened from an email or after another user had already had the file opened.    However, refreshing in a file that is in read-only mode is not possible with version 9.  We opened a case for this issue and OneStream confirmed this change was a version 9 enhancement and that it is included in the release notes for version 9.  We are planning to submit an entry on IdeaStream to either restore the refresh functionality to what is was prior to version 9 or to make the functionality a general preference in the add-in.

Having trouble finding the post on IdeaStream, can you link it please? We are in the same boat and did not realize how much of an impact this would have on our users.

Here is the link to my post on Idea Stream.  Please let me know if you cannot get to it:

I will look for the entry on IdeaStream and work to get it support.  Our users do not like this new enhancement, an option in General Preferences would be a great compromise.

Were you able to find the post on IdeaStream? Want to give it more backing, our users are not a fan of the enhancement either.
