So we have the GetBaseMembers method (or the GetChildren, or the GetDescendant or event the GetMember) that would return instances of the Member class. What is not clear (at least to me) is how I could filter returned members based on security.I could set Nobody in all the member Security's fields of a specific member, but it keeps on being returned by (for instance) the GetBaseMembers.I'm wondering how I could get only visible members, applying a filter that won't return them from the call. Also, it would be nice to know, given a member, if it can be seen, read or written. Two ways to get the same result, for different scopes.ThanksFabioG
Hi all, We have hundreds of historical (no longer valid) accounts sitting in a cube and we are looking at ways of de-cluttering resulting data retrievals to avoid seeing them. But additionally, we want to prevent any accidental loading to these accounts from the source system. For reporting, I know we can populate one of the text fields with some text and then combine that with a Where() clause to filter out these old accounts. But, from a data load perspective, just wondering what the risks / benefits are of utilizing either (or both) of the In Use or Allow Input attributes; to prevent accidental loading of data there. We want to be able to continue to see any historical data for these accounts and be able to drilldown from the parent account and see that data. There are no member formulas associated with these - they are all base accounts. We don't care about the Scenario/Time specificity capability If anyone is using these attributes would very much appreciate any recommenda
Hi all,I have a DynamicCalc account where the Text6 property is populated. I also created a UD8 member that dynamically retrieves the POV account and returns its Text6 property. In my Cube View, I set the POV for this UD8 column to Annotation. This works well for all non-DynamicCalc accounts... I can successfully retrieve and display the Text6 property in the Cube View. However, for DynamicCalc accounts, the Text6 property doesn't appear. It seems like OneStream can't resolve the property for DynamicCalc members in this context.Has anyone encountered this behavior? Thanks in advance!UD8 member filter:
Hi all, Does anyone happen to have the correct syntax for an XML file that modifies a single attribute (member property) and can be uploaded to OneStream without resetting other member properties? A bit of background, I have to add content to the Text7 field of over 3000 members. I tried one version of a XML that only referred to the Text7 property for a single memberBut when I loaded the xml, some (but not all) of the properties for that member reverted back to original defaults. On the plus side, it DID update the Text 7 field. I'm clearly not defining my XML properly so if anyone has an example of the syntax I can use to update a property without affecting anything else, I would love to see it. I realize I can extract all 3000 members to an XML, but if the Text7 property is not assigned anything, then that property doesn't get included in the extract (otherwise I could simply do a global search/replace): in order to fix this I would have to write a script to r
HI, OS has report to verify extensibility. I wanted to know based on exp that what happen when report has an error from technical perspective. We have some ragged hierarchy to full fill our req, but report shows an error so trying to understand if consolidation won't work if that is the case. By they are in UD.
Hi all,I tried to issue an api.Data:calculate with the following (fake) formula :A#ACCXXX:F:MYFLOW:S#MYSCEN = A#ACC001:F#CHI:S#ACTOf course OS complains because I'm reading from the current Scenario (ACT) but I want to write in a different Scenario that implies a different Data Unit (is it ?)While being in ACT scenario, if I would switch to DataBuffers to write in the destination Scenario (is it?)Could someone point me in the right direction ? I did this, but looks like it doesn't write a **bleep** !Dim _srcDC As DataCell = api.Data.GetDataCell("A#ACC001:F#CHI:S#ACT")Dim _targetDB As New DataBuffer()Dim _dcNew As DataCell = New DataCell(_srcDC)_dcNew.SetScenario(api, "MYSCEN") ' This WON'T CHANGE <===================_dcNew.SetAccount(api, "ACCXXX") ' This Change_dcNew.SetFlow(api, "MYFLOW") ' This Change_targetDB.SetCell(si, _dcNew)api.Data.SetDataBuffer(_targetDB, _destinationInfo)In the end, works fine... just doesn't change the Scenario... :-/ What am I doing wrong ? &n
Hello,Do you know how many groups I can create in each of the following sections: Data Cell Access Security, Data Cell Conditional, and Data Management Access Security?Thank you!Hoa
Hi all,I'm hoping someone can see what I'm doing wrong here.First a question: Is Scenario access cube specific? Let's say I have 4 cubes. Currently all 4 cubes give a user access to all Scenarios. If I restrict access to a specific scenario for that user in one cube, does that restriction apply across all cubes? I would assume No - am I wrong? I've been trying to set up restricted scenario access to a group of users in a certain cube. I don't want to touch overall security for the Scenario because there are multiple regions that need access. I've tried to set this up via Slice security (Data Access directly on the Cube) by using a Where clause in the Scenario definition for every group identified in the Data Access (i.e. Planning.Base.Where(Name DoesNotContain X). This doesn't appear to be working. The User themself, has access to multiple cubes and there is no restriction to that scenario in those other cubes. So is it all or
Hello,Working with a client and implementing a marketplace solution that potentially requires us to go to a year that is before the start year of the application. Is there any harm in changing the start year to an earlier year? Those years will not be used for their normal operations nor feed data to the cube, so not sure if there would be an issue changing this. Any thoughts? Thanks,AJ
We are looking for some help in direction to build dynamic member addition to a dimension using extensible business rule in version 9.0 We have tried to use the code that is used in earlier versions which uses declaration like "Dim newMember As New Member" but it does not work anymore in version 9 as it gives error when assigning values to newMember.Name property and some search suggests that we now need to use "Dim newMember As New MemberEx" Using this declaration results in error compiling the business rule. We are looking for some help/direction on this.
Hi Do we have any quick way of resetting/clearing the data with Business Rule which has been loaded into the cube via WF profile (O#Import)?
Hi, I am trying to load the data from a file into the cube (import validate load steps) via Business Rule and while I am able to load it successfully. I am not sure how to reset it if the job fails in between. For instance: Data pulled from the file gets failed at validate step due to some transformation rule issue. Now if I trigger the rule again , it will not do anything as import step is already completed. I need it to reset clear the cache from stage and redo the load process again when the business rule is triggered. Can you please assist? Below is the code being used
Hi Team,I’m working on a Hybrid Scenario setup where the goal is to copy data from a source scenario to a management (MGT) scenario. This allows the MGT team to work with the data independently, using their own workflow with high-level access. So far, the base data copy works well. However, I want to summarize entity data in the target scenario so that users only see Entity parent nodes, while maintaining visibility of all other 17 dimension members (Account, UD1-UD8, etc.).To achieve this, I tried creating a dummy parent member (Entity X) in a new Entity dimension that mimics the top-level parent from the legal entity hierarchy (Entity Y). My intention was to use this structure in the Pre-Aggregated Members field in the Hybrid Scenario configuration, effectively copying:Entity X = Entity YUnfortunately, this method worked successfully in Version 7.4, but does not appear to function as expected in Version 8.4.Maybe in version 9.0 +, we can successfully configure pre-aggregated entity ma
Hi all, I’ve encountered an issue in OneStream where inputting a value of 0 does not trigger any calculations, while entering 0.1 or any other non-zero value works as expected. From what I understand, this seems to be related to Zero Suppression, which may be preventing the system from storing or processing the zero value. However, I’d like to confirm if this is standard behavior, or if there’s a recommended best practice for handling zeros in data input and calculations (e.g., in cube views or business rules). Thanks!
Hello, In our planning solution I'm looking for a change to plan with less detail. We import transfer prices on material level, but now we want to plan on product level which includes several materials. During transformation the items with the same dimensionality are being combined and show a total value, but for these prices I would need a simple average. Example below: Imported values: After transformation the original UD4 is replace by the product member which is imported on Flow, because some UD4's remain unchanged: I would need to have the simple average (871.48 + 880.82)/2 = 876.15. Is there a simple setting for this, i can't find it, any other suggestion would help also. kind regards Ben
Hi all, while configuring a local OneStream instance, I know that I have to copy the "Encrypted Connection String For Server" from DataBase Configuration, putting it into the Application Server Configuration File, in the "Database Server Connections" item.I see that there's also a "Is Connection String Encrypted" flag, so I suppose I could set a clear connection string. Is not clear which would be the format of an unencrypted string (I took a look in the Installation Guide but I wasn't able to find what I was looking for...). Since this is a local development instance, there's no need to secure it... Could someone share this knowledge (or point me in the right direction) ? Thanks a lotFabioG
Hi all,I wrote a bunch of BRules and a couple of Assemblies (in different workspaces) that work together to perform calculations. So in the end I have a dependency chain like this:BR => Assembly => AssemblyThings works like a charm.Sometimes, after I made changes to an Assembly, I get a weird error saying that OneStream cannot find my assembly. While this is true when it cannot compile correctly (due to errors), it doesn't make sense to me when it compiles fine.Even if I compile my assemblies before I run the BRules, sometimes it happens.I'm trying to find out an explanation and I thought that:I run the BRule and OneStream think that Assembly1 - a dependence - is "old", so....OneStream start compiling Assembly1, and, while compiling it, OneStream think that Assembly2 - a dependence - is "old", so....OneStream start compiling Assembly2Maybe these compilations are running async and in parallel... And, maybe, the last compilation takes too much time, taking the first one
Hi, I'm trying to build a dashboard that reviews all of the members in certain dimensions and ensures it has all of the members rolling up to the top properly. To do this, I'm trying to find the table in the back end of OneStream to find the Aggregation Weight. Does anyone know where that table is retained? Thanks, Ben
Hi, I want to extract metadata in OneStream. While extracting the Accounts metadata, I want to extract both the 'Parent description' and 'Account type'. Through the grid view if you check the 'Display Parent Child Relationships' box, the account type goes away! I want to extract both of them together in a .csv file. This process also needs to be automated to be extracted on a scheduled basis. What would be the best solution to this problem?
Hi all, How should it be managed in case a base member containing data should change to become a parent member? Is there a preferred procedure to follow? Thank you for your help.Best regards,Carlos
Is there anyway we can develop a custom elimination process in the OS and attached with the cube. I see there is a "Custom" option in the cube properties but dont know what this function will do. FinanceFunctionType.ConsolidateElimination. I developed a custom rules which eliminate at first common parent dummy base member and it all ties when I sum but i wanted to get it roll up to Total Entity in USD.
I am currently working on a Dynamic Cube with Data Binding Type (Share Data using Workspace Assembly). I was able to load Local currency data from BiBlend table and verify data using Cube View. Does Dynamic cube support Translation & Consolidation? I was unable to view translated data.
Anyone willing to share the process by which you copy prior year accumulated retained earnings to the current year? Is this just handled via data management steps, or do you need a business rule? It does not seem that our implementation partner set this up for us... therefore this account currently is just being imported from our ERPs at the start of the year. This is an issue for our few entities with foreign currency, as the balance continues to translate at the current month closing rate, which we do not want. Appreciate any insight! :-)
I am curious if there is a way to bypass characters in a transformation rule without using a complex expression. For example,000485 (Source) -> 458 (Target)394904 (Source) -> 904 (Target)
Hello ! I've noticed that the workflow time stored in the application is having a weird format, for instance : Workflow Time : 022008000 = 2022M5Workflow Start Time : 2022003000 = 2022M1Workflow End Time : 2022018000 = 2022M12 The only reason I see for this weird format is on the FX rate table (shown below), as it seems that 2022M1 is in the 4th column (hence 003 if we count column 0), 2022M5 in the 8th column and 2022M12 in the 18th column... --> Is it just a coincidence, or am I assuming correctly the date format ?
