Discuss reporting and cube views.

Hi folks: I am searching for suggestions to improve reporting performance in dashboards. We have a couple of simple, executive dashboards that consist of 5-10 tabs of cube views. These work great for managing a common set of reports for end users. Parameters are managed within the dashboard and persist when switching cube views (tabs); all that works great. However, users complain that it is slow to switch between cube views (tabs). It appears that each cube view is re-run when switching tabs rather than simply displaying the data that was previously refreshed. While most reports take <2 seconds to run, a few can take in the 8-15 second range which is deemed unacceptable. Are there any methods (formal or hacked together) for caching cube view results so that switching tabs simply displays already refreshed data rather than re-running the cube view? Thanks, -db
Hi, I have a cube view with a straightforward requirement. Below is an example of my requirements using the Golfstream app. My rows are set as follows: Member filter 1: U2#Clubs.ChildrenInclusive:name(UD2: |MFUD2Desc|) Member filter 2: T#2011Q1.ChildrenInclusive:name(Time: |MFTime|, UD2: |MFUD2Desc| The below screenshot shows what this returns. The issue is that I need to reference the member filter 1 member from member filter 2. When I use |MFUD2| from member filter 2, it reverts to my top UD2 member rather than reading my UD2 member from member filter 1. I need this to do a more complicated loop through members, and that loop must take the row's UD2 member into account. Any advice or workarounds? User-created parameters and |CVUD2| do not return what I need.
I cannot find any setting for moveable splits in dashboard layout or advanced dashboard layout. Is it not possible in Genesis? Does it means I should just create the dashboard in the client first and then link it into Genesis?
I am here with one of my typical requests to see if anyone has (SQL query) code I can borrow 🙂 We had an issue with two users who discovered how to submit data through Excel and circumvent the workflow forms. As a result they are inputting data to intersections where we do not want forecast data. I would like to have a dashboard I can run where I can select a specific scenario and it will return a list of intersections that were modified through an Excel submit. Or just a list of users and then I can run the ONC application report User Data Entry Detail to get the details of the intersections. I know the data lives in a table somewhere but I am not sure the table name and the fields to filter on and return. In the ONC User Data Entry Detail report I am able to select a scenario, WF time and user name and can see data they changed via forms and data that was changed via Excel. But, there is no option to see all Excel edits for all users and I am trying to catch the ru
I've been working on getting up to speed with the various Genesis content blocks and am having trouble with the Cube View With Drill block. When I try to select a cube view, the tree view only goes down to the Cube View Group level, not the Cube View level. I was able to tweak a business rule to allow it to select a specific cube view, but then the drill doesn't appear to work when I select a cell to see the details. I'm certain there is data that can be drilled down to, but nothing changes when I click various cells. I've even tried setting the cube view to show a base-level intersection and confirmed that I can see a number that is the same in stage. Anyone seen this issue yet or have any troubleshooting tips?
I have created a cv with comments for comments input and review. The comments are saved and viewed with success but I am missing the red flag on the cell where there is comment in the cells. See below. According to feature video for cv with comment, there should be a red flag see below screenshot: What could be the reason it is missing?
Hi everyone,I have two attribute dimensions in my model that I use to filter Cost Centers by Region and Line of Business. The issue is that when I try to drill down on those cells to reach the Stage data using “Load Results for Imported Cells”, I’m not able to get to the maximum level of detail.I assume this happens because the system is filtering by attribute members, which do not exist in the Stage tables.Has anyone experienced something similar or found a solution/workaround for this? Thanks in advance!
In the basic dashboard courses, there are documentation suggesting the recommended naming conventions for the workspaces, maintenance unit and the respectives sub folders. But in Genesis, I cannot find any. I wish to get some idea for it for better structure and administering before starting using Genesis in our application.
Hello Everyone,I created a pie chart using the BI Viewer in OneStream. The chart displays correctly when viewed directly in BI Viewer. However, once I add the pie chart to a dashboard, the labels are not fully displayed as expected.Has anyone experienced the same issue? Is this a known limitation when embedding BI Viewer components into dashboards? Is there a setting I might be missing? Do you know of any workaround to force labels to display properly?Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!
Hi - Is there a consolidated list of available arguments that can be used when pulling a cube view in an extensible doc? This is the default value/example when inserting: "{XF}{Application}{CubeViewReport}{MyCubeView}" "Argument1" "Argument2"A populated example would be: "{XF}{Application}{CubeViewReport}{CubeViewName}" “IncludeReportMargins=False” “IncludeReportHeader=False” “IncludeReportFooter=False” “IncludePageHeader=True” “IncludePageFooter=True”Just trying to figure out if these are the only ones or if there are others since I'm having some trouble with getting it to display the way I wanted. Thanks!

Is there a way to default the format in a text box where rich text is allowed to something other than Calibri? it remembers the state of the component when I open a dashboard change it, save, and close the component but when I create new items from the dashboard the new items that get always default to Calibri.
I have a source cube view that has a column for actuals, budget, and then actuals versus budget. Actuals versus Budget is just a simple GetDataCell(CVC(Co1) - CVC(Col2)). However, there's a need from our business partners to be able to drill down into the variance for Entity.Base (source cube view is just Entity). My original attempt (Attempt #1) was to create a DynamicCalc UD8 to take S#Actuals - S#Budget but we have a handful of custom Accounts (A#) that aren't playing well with this approach. However, for the accounts that do work the drilldown is working perfectly. My next attempt (Attempt #2) was to create a non-DynamicCalc UD8 (TestUD8) and keep the GetDataCell column on the source cube view but tagged :U8#TestUD8. The problem I'm running into with this method is that the TestUD8 isn't getting passed to the linked cube view? And I don't know why? I have Attempt #1 and Attempt #2 side-by-side on the same cube view and Attempt #1 will pass the cus
Hello, We are looking to create a form tracker that provides a global overview of the progress across all our entities, do you know if this is possible ?Headers = All our entitiesRows = all of our formsData = Text to see if the form is complete Thank you in advance for your help,Regards,Antoine
Hello, We need an RCM report to tie recon balances back to OneStream for audit purposes. Has anyone created or knows how to build a report showing balances for child recs (without the balance for the associated recon) and balances for recons that have no child recs? The rcm database tables aren't very intuitive and a little guidance would be a huge help! Thanks!
Hi Everyone!, I have been unable to set margins in a cubeview in a extensible document. Even though, the report margins in the cubeview settings are set and the argument IncludeReportMargins is set to true as can be seen in the attached images. But no margins are shown. Thanks for you help.
Good day to you. Currently, we are working on a Dashboard for User Access. We have successfully implemented the logic to retrieve Security Group Unique IDs along with their corresponding Security Group details. As part of this dashboard, we now need to retrieve Workflow Profile–level details, specifically: Entity assigned to the Workflow Profile Access Group Maintenance Group Workflow Execution Group Certification / Signoff Group So far, we have been able to retrieve details for points (1), (2), and (3). However, we are unable to fetch the Workflow Execution Group and Certification / Signoff Group details using either Business Rules or SQL queries. Could you please help us by suggesting: The appropriate Business Rule method/API, or A supported SQL approach, to retrieve these remaining Workflow Profile security details? Your guidance on the recommended approach would be greatly appreciated.
HiIs there and XFGet type of formula that can be used to retrieve the name of the application that you are currently logged into? Thanks,Mark
Hi, I'm using OneStream 8.2 and trying to merge 3 column headers (Forecast, Budget, Var) under one "|!Entity_Selection!|" header. I've tried Setting MergeAndCenterColumnHeaders = True in Column propertiesThe merged header is not appearing. Has anyone successfully merged column headers in version 8.4? What am I missing? Thanks!Output required:
I'm having an issue with specific top-side entries not being captured by cube views, dashboards, and even business rules. The entries were posted to the Adj workflow with entity member filter: E#Root.WfProfileEntities. Could it have something to do with the entity member filter assigned to the journals?
Hello - Does anyone know how to add row/index numbers to BI Viewer as shown below? Thanks,Bil Brandon
How do we remove the gray/blue gridlines from the Excel export and when printing to PDF? The screenshots below have no formatting. The cube view exports directly to PDF with no gridlines, but when exporting to Excel and printing to PDF, the gridlines appear. Thanks.
Good afternoon, I'm curious to see how other companies handle this situation. We've recently launched a Dashboard allowing the vast majority of our user base, ~800 users, the ability to interact with and drilldown on their financials. One of the growing pains we're experiencing with this change is that the users have the ability to create a PDF Book for their selected Locations + Children on whatever Cube View they're currently on. So it could be one PDF or a lot (50+ locations). Opening the Book Viewer creates a background server task which on its own doesn't seem to be an issue. However, we have a couple of "triggering" events that cause an influx of our user base to all access the system for financial review and book publishing at the same time. Prelim financials are ready to review, financials are closed, etc. The problem we're experiencing seems to be when we have a lot of users all trying to create books at the same time it appears that their tasks are ste
We recently encountered an issue where users are unable to save offline copies, (v9.1) which led us into a broader discussion around version control and file sharing for our getcell reports. We’re looking for ideas or best practices from others who have implemented effective solutions to manage the below. What we’re hoping to achieve:- Multiple users able to access the same report simultaneously- A shared experience similar to Google Docs (centralized file access)- Strong version control to avoid duplicate or outdated files- Ideally, a simple check-in/check-out type process to prevent conflicts So far, the only option we’ve considered is a potential SharePoint integration, but we’re hoping to find a solution that is less technical and easier to manage from a superuser/user perspective. If you’ve implemented a process, tool, or solution that works well for your team, I’d love to hear about it. Thank you!
The newest release (9.1) of OneStream introduces the Alias property for just about all of the dimensions. The only place so far where I have found the Alias as being useful is in search. I have not been able to figure out the correct syntax to be able to use the alias in Cube Views, Quick Views or any business rule. My guess is that we are going to have to create a custom business rule that will allow us to call the Alias name and present in a viewable format. Does anyone have an example of where they have been able to display an Alias value in a Cube View or Quick view instead of displaying the default member name and/or description?
